About EIG

EIG is developing a lean shared-services platform supporting its businesses and projects across development advisory, enterprise development, renewable energy and related commercial activities. The Group seeks a finance leader who can combine executive judgement with practical financial execution.

The opportunity

The CFO will protect liquidity, improve financial visibility, prepare financeable growth opportunities and strengthen accountability across the Group. This is a hands-on leadership role: the successful candidate must be able to interrogate a cash-flow model, review a project budget, organise a funding process and explain a difficult financial decision clearly to the CEO and Board.

Core responsibilities

  • Lead financial strategy, annual budgets, rolling forecasts and capital-allocation recommendations; test the affordability of new commitments.
  • Own a rolling 13-week cash forecast, payment planning, working-capital management, receivables follow-up and foreign-currency exposure analysis.
  • Coordinate debt, equity and structured-finance preparation: financial models, data rooms, lender engagement, due diligence, drawdown conditions and covenant monitoring.
  • Deliver reliable entity-level and Group management reporting, with reconciliations, intercompany transparency and clear explanations of profit, cash and risk.
  • Oversee project and grant finance, contract economics, restricted funds, results-based funding claims and shared-cost allocation.
  • Build proportionate controls, strengthen the existing finance team and reduce routine dependence on the Group CEO without weakening oversight.
  • The CFO reports directly to the CEO and has access to the Board or its designated committee on material financial matters. The role does not report through the COO.

Essential capability and relevant experience

  • A relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification pathway supported by substantial relevant experience.
  • A completed professional accounting qualification such as ICAN, ACCA or a recognised equivalent, with membership/good standing capable of verification.
  • At least 10 years of progressive finance experience, including at least four years leading a finance function, substantial project-finance portfolio or multi-entity finance team.
  • Evidence of personal ownership of cash-flow decisions, management reporting, control improvements, commercial analysis and senior-management or Board reporting.
  • Direct experience preparing or executing financing transactions, including modelling, lender/investor due diligence or negotiations; explain personal contribution rather than simply quoting funds raised.
  • Strong spreadsheet modelling, accounting-systems capability and ability to lead a lean team in a founder-led organisation.
  • Experience in at least two of the following is advantageous: professional services/development consulting; donor-funded programmes; renewable energy/EPC/infrastructure; asset finance or a multi-company business. A relevant master's degree is useful but not mandatory. A previous CFO title is not essential where the executive capability is evidenced.

What success will look like

Within the first 90 days, the CFO should establish credible cash visibility, reliable management reporting, a prioritised control-remediation plan, a documented funding pipeline and a clear operating rhythm with the CEO, COO and finance staff.
